Your Words
Our goal is to provide our patients and their families comfort, care, and dignity during the difficult times of hospice care and home health care. While we are proud of the professional achievements and accolades of our medical staff, it is the words from patients and their families that reflect best on our service.
We encourage you to hear for yourself the difference Dignity made in the lives of our patients and their families by clicking on their stories. If you have a story you would like to tell about the care your loved one received from Dignity, please let us know.

Our family is very thankful to everyone at Dignity Hospice who helped in any way with the care of our mother — Dr. Harvey, the nurses, the aides, and the office staff. They never left our side especially during her last few days, and for this, we are truly appreciative and grateful. We love all of them.
When we were in need of a minister, they sent us the Hospice Chaplain, who provided our mother with much needed solace and strength when she was sick and conducted a beautiful service that touched our hearts after her death.
To everyone at Dignity Hospice, we give our sincere gratitude and love.

Our mother’s pancreatic cancer was advanced when it was discovered, and it was her wish to spend her last days at home rather than in the hospital. I heard good things about Dignity’s hospice care; choosing them to care for our mother was the best decision
we ever made.Dignity Hospice immediately got all the equipment we needed to make Mom as comfortable as possible. They were available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The staff made our mother feel special. They always came in with a smile, compassion, and love. When our mother peacefully entered Heaven, a Dignity Hospice nurse was by her side along with us, her loving children.
It takes someone special to do the job that hospice nurses and staff do, and I thank God for placing the wonderful men and women that work in that field. We thank Dignity Hospice from the bottom of our hearts. May God Bless each of them!

What does Dignity Hospice mean to me? When I needed educated about my mother’s medical procedures, God sent a nurse to educate me. When I needed to laugh, God sent a nurse with a great sense of humor. When I needed to cry, God sent a very sympathetic nurse. When I talked about my obsessive-compulsive behavior, God sent a nurse who was just as compulsive as Iwas. Dignity Hospice was a Godsend.I know we cannot add one minute to a person’s allotted time on this earth, we can only give that person the best possible care, and that is what Dignity Hospice did for our mother. I thank God from the bottom of my heart for their compassionate staff.

My sister was only 39 years old and suffering from cancer when her husband had a fatal four-wheeler accident. Shortly afterwards, the doctors stopped her chemotherapy treatments because they were not helping.Even though we had help caring for her, I called Dignity Hospice, and they came right away. They brought a hospital bed and other supplies that she needed. They showed us how to administer her medications and how to make her more comfortable. They told us to call day or night if needed them. We found it necessary to call, but it was never a problem for them to come as soon as they could.
Dignity Hospice treated my sister royally. For someone to be so gentle and caring to my sister was amazing. Nothing went undone. The nurses did not mind the unpleasant jobs that needed done. They also were so nice to talk to the family and sometimes called just to see if we needed anything.
During the final, heartbreaking hours of her life, Hospice stayed with us and gave us support. My mother said they were angels from God. We greatly appreciate Dignity Hospice and thank them very much.

When my husband Walter was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, he went through two rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, and then the cancer went into remission. As the doctor expected, it came back and spread. When Dignity Hospice was notified, the office and nursing staff were wonderful to us. A nurse came the very next day to get the process going. They supplied us with the equipment necessary to make my husband comfortable. The nurses came every day and whenever we called them, day or night. When the end was nearing, the nurses were never in a hurry to leave. They answered all the questions my children and I had. They gave us words of encouragement and told us what to expect. They helped us with decisions for the well-being and comfort of Walt. He died after only 24 days of Hospice care.
I do not have the words to express the sincere gratitude this family has for the wonderful work this organization does. The office and nursing staff went beyond nursing care. They have kept in touch with me throughout the past year to offer any counseling I may need. I would recommend this organization to anyone in need of this service. My sincere thanks to everyone at Dignity Hospice.

When our wonderful mother was released from the hospital, our family saw to her needs the best we could. Beyond that, we did not know what to expect other than hospice would be sent to help care for her.
By the time we arrived home, a hospital bed had already been delivered and set up and a nurse was on the way. When that wonderful nurse arrived, she had a family meeting and answered questions we had. She made us aware of the seriousness of Mom’s condition but encouraged us never to give up hope. She also told us to call anytime we needed her, which we had to do several times. In fact, the nurse was with us through the final moments of Mom’s life and stayed until the funeral director came.
Without Dignity Hospice, our family would have been on our own, not knowing what to do or how to handle certain situations, such as getting the necessary equipment and supplies, giving prescription medicines, or helping Mom rest comfortably. We even received follow-up letters helping us deal with the grief we faced.
As Abraham Lincoln once said, “In this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all and it often comes with bitter agony. Perfect relief is not possible except with time.” Dignity Hospice did everything that could be done with such professionalism and compassion that there are not enough words to thank them.

When Dignity Hospice and Home Health cared for my husband Dick, I learned that they would come any time I needed them. Whether it was day or night, I knew I could count on them to help both of us. Dignity would also stay with Dick when I was sick or needed to take care of things outside of our home. With the help of each of the nurses, we became a team to provide the best care for my husband. While we focused on Dick’s care, we also became friends. For two years, they were a part of my life and my home. I know I could have never found anyone more understanding or more helpful than the nurses and staff at Dignity Hospice.

We were so scared when Dad’s doctor mentioned the word “hospice” because we knew death from his pancreatic cancer was near. However, when the nurse arrived to talk to Dad and us about Dignity Hospice, our fears were calmed. They were there not just for Dad, although his comfort came first; they were there for my sister and me.Every day someone from Dignity would call or come by. Anytime we needed them, day or night, they were there, no questions asked. They were always respectful and compassionate to Dad and his needs. There was a peace knowing they were with us. The Hospice Chaplain would let Dad talk for as long as he wanted. He was also a help to the rest of the family. It was a feeling I cannot explain…I know all of them were sent from God.
We chose for Dad to stay at home instead of in the hospital during his last days. The nurse stayed with us and told us what to expect and what to watch for. Having her with us was so comforting.
Dignity Hospice did a wonderful job, and we do not have one complaint. Even after Dad died, Hospice called and sent cards of encouragement for a long time. They are truly a blessing from God.
My story does not end there because two weeks after my father’s death, my 93-year-old grandmother fell and broke her hip and shoulder. She also suffered from dementia and other health problems, and was in and out of the hospital and the nursing home. Several weeks later in a doctor’s office, my eye caught the Dignity Hospice and Home Health pamphlet. I knew with their help I could keep Granny at home with me.
When I saw the Dignity Hospice car drive pull in my driveway, I felt such a relief. They treated Granny like a baby and supplied us with all we needed to make her comfortable. With a touch from God and Hospice by her side, Granny’s dementia improved for a few days before she passed away peacefully. As with Dad, the Hospice nurse was with us every step of the way.
I no longer cringe when I hear the word “hospice.” I know that someone is getting the best care and comfort ever. God uses people every day, and with the death of my dad and my grandmother, He sent us Dignity Hospice and Home Health. Our thanks and prayers will forever be with them.
